The city beach of Las Palmas on Gran Canaria stands out as the best and most affordable beach in Europe this summer. A shaded sun lounger at Playa de Las Canteras is under £3 per day. The beach enjoys pleasant ocean breezes and average summer temperatures of 21°C. Drink prices will please tourists – a pint of beer from the beach bar costs £3.00, and a spritz is served at £5.15.

Several other Spanish beaches offer excellent value such as the Basque region’s Playa de La Concha on the Bay of Biscay where a serving of ice cream costs under £2, and a sun lounger is available for less than £3.

France worst value!

Most expensive rental sun loungers at Croisette Beach in the city of Cannes, France. A shaded seat by the water costs around £51. A significant imbalance of supply and demand has drastically increased costs. More affordable sun loungers can be found in Turkey, Croatia, Spain, and Cyprus, with rental costs below £3 per day.

Gorleston is UK’s best

Of the eight British seaside towns analysed the best budget resort is east coast Gorleston-on-sea near Great Yarmouth where a spritz starts at £7,

while a beach lounger in second-place Weymouth is around £8. Both places offer ice creams at under £3.

Saving on drinks by the beach

Spritz is served in European beach bars from around £2.50 in Cyprus to £10 in Nice, France. On average, holidaymakers can expect to spend around £6 for this tangy cocktail.

The most affordable Spritz options, priced at £4 and less, are available at Falésia Beach in the Algarve, Portugal (£3.43), Kleopatra Beach in Alanya, Turkey (£3.43), and Fig Tree Bay in Cyprus (£2.57).

A traditional pint of local beer by the beach costs between £2 and £7. On average, tourists pay £3.87 for a pint while on holiday. The cheapest beer can be found in Turkish destinations, along the Albanian coast, and in Seville, Spain, among others.
The most affordable ice cream

For those seeking a bargain on ice cream, Turkey charges under £1 per serving. Other affordable destinations include Sotavento Beach in Fuerteventura (£1.03), Mallorca (£1.12), and every analysed destination in Croatia (ranging from £1.12 to £1.20 per serving).

Italy, renowned for its gelato, serves ice cream from £1.72 in Monterosso al Mare to £4.29 per serving in Ravenna and Positano on the Amalfi coast.

The most expensive ice cream by the beach is sold in the Netherlands, on the island of Schiermonnikoog. Holidaymakers have to shell out around £4.29 for a cup or cone.
Best Coolcation beaches

  • With the trend of “Coolcation” on the rise as more holidaymakers are seeking out chilly destinations to escape from the scorching heat of the cities. At Søndervig in Denmark, Varamobadet by Lake Vättern, and Tylösand on the island of Öresund in Sweden, holidaymakers can expect pleasant temperatures averaging 16°C during summer and even chillier is Scotland, where Ayr and West Sands Beach in St. Andrews temperatures average only 13°C.
