Brighton-born Trevor Leggett, real Brit with a French name, is France’s leading estate agent, with a team of 700-plus agents – a huge increase from his start some 20 years ago when he left the UK to seek his fortune in France.
After setting up in the Dordogne, a favourite French area for emigrating Brits, Trevor branched out and his slick style and great agency ideas worked well and he expanded a small family business into France’s largest estate agent, with multi-lingual staff.
Keen skier Trevor, aged 50, has expanded quietly and efficiently has now expanded into skiing and winter sports, making a killing in the Alps, where he now does rentals and also handles businesses for sale.
And despite the lockdown and fewer visitors, his Leggett Immobilier is ready to take off when Covid restrictions end and people start travelling to ski again.
Lively Trevor recently hosted me on a whirlwind weekend tour of the Chamonix region, and its beautiful Belle Epoc village of St Gervais and everywhere we went he was hailed as a hero by French locals who value his market dominance, and his excellent French language skills.
“Very important to parlez properly when you come to France,” muttered Trevor, as he speedily hurtled me round the region on a look-see of the region’s fine real estate opportunities, particularly in Saint Gervais.
He tells me that In France homes and businesses cost around 25% less than in the UK, and with a better health care service than the UK.
Trevor is finding more and more buyers from Britain, many of whom are skiers seeking a pad for themselves, which they can later rent to holidaymakers, who are expected back in droves this coming ski season.
