Top Russell Crowe with an entire hamlet plus vineyards

Remember film star Russell Crowe in his rom com “A Good Year”, about a City of London banker taking over a vineyard in Provence, falling in love and escaping the City banking life forever.

For a whole year’s bonuses, you could buy an entire French hamlet in the Luberon with vineyards, bastide, three houses in 26 hectares of brilliant countryside. But unlike our Hollywood hero, no naughty ladies included.

Sited on the southern slopes of the Luberon, this large and beautiful 18th century medieval fort is fully restored and reminiscent of Tuscan bastides.   Enjoying a distant and unobstructed view of the Luberon, rising and setting sun, the property is surrounded by 10 hectares including 5 hectares of lavender fields, meadows and 16 hectares of woods.

The property, just 50 km from Nice Airport, is isolated and has 12 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, and some 830 square meters of land in Alpes de Hautes Provence . Several U – shaped buildings, articulated around a beautiful inner courtyard, offering a total useful surface of approximately 1000m2. All in fantastic condition, as are the gites, swim pools, parking garages and of course, just for Crowe fans – a fabulous vaulted wine cellar, with hopefully a better cru than he inherited in his movie (and for those who have not seen – we consider it great fun – and dreamboat)

Perfect Alpine hideaway.

Here’s the perfect great escape – a beautiful French chalet soaked with Alpine charm and ideal for families or small groups of skiers or great outdoors lovers.

This two-floor home, built in 2006, overlooks the La Giettaz valley, and is constructed using traditional methods and materials, and radiates Alpine charm and character. The huge open-plan living and dining area is the perfect space for après-ski relaxation and three double bedrooms make this a complete family home. The large south-facing terrace lets you sit all day soaking up sun and panoramic views of the Aravis mountains.

La Giettaz is surrounded by unspoilt forest and bucolic pastureland. The local Giettois are proud of their traditional mountain village lifestyle, with many small farms producing the delicious Reblochon cheese. Like much of the Val d’Arly, La Giettaz is not just a ski resort; but a  living village with an active, year-round community, and surrounded by over 800km of pistes between the Portes du Mont Blanc, Evasion Mont Blanc, Espace Diamant and La Clusaz ski areas that are all within 20 minutes’ drive of the village. Accessed from the small hamlet of Le Plan – just a short drive from La Giettaz itself – the north-facing slopes of the 100km Portes du Mont Blanc area have a growing reputation for both quiet, hassle-free pistes and superb off-piste tree skiing and ski touring. During spring, summer and autumn, the area offers outstanding hiking, road cycling, mountain biking and many other outdoor activities.
La Clusaz 12km, Megève 16km, Albertville (nearest train station) 34km, Annecy 42km, Chamonix 49km, Geneva Airport 81km, Chambéry Airport 88km, Lyon Airport 170km.
